Translate your apps

Everyone reads the app in their own language – and the app stays as it is. Choose your language once, and ancoreMind shows the texts of every Qlik app in it: sheet titles, chart titles, subtitles, footnotes, labels and master measure names. Only you see the translation, on every device; your colleagues see the app in their language – or as it was written.

On this page you learn:

  • how to switch translation on and what gets translated,
  • how to keep an app in its original language,
  • how your team corrects translations together.

How it works

  1. Choose your language

Open Settings › Language and choose a language under Translate Qlik apps into – 38 languages are available, each named in its own language. Original language (no translation) switches translation off.

  2. Open an app

Open any Qlik app. While ancoreMind translates, a note on the sheet says ✦ ancoreMind is translating Qlik content into … – it disappears when all texts are in. The next time, the translation is there at once.

Nothing is saved in the Qlik app: other users see the original texts, and copies and objects you save to the Library keep them, too.

Details

What is translated

  • sheet titles
  • titles, subtitles and footnotes of charts and tables
  • labels of dimensions and measures, and of filter panes
  • names of master measures

Master dimensions and texts that are formulas (they start with =) stay as they are. While a sheet is in edit mode, you see the original texts.

Keep an app in its original language

Some apps should stay as they were written – for example an app made for one country. In Settings › Language, select Keep this app original; the app appears under Keep in original language. The × next to it (Translate … again) translates it again. The same switch is in the menu ☰: Keep this app in original language.

Your language and this list belong to you and follow you to every device.

Correct a translation – for the whole team

The translations live in the Workspace, so the whole team reads the same words. Open Workspace › Translations:

  • Choose the Language, and find a text with Search originals and translations. The table shows Original and Translation.
  • Select a translation to change it – Enter saves, Esc cancels, Undo takes it back.
  • A text written by hand gets a 🔒: the AI never overwrites it. Give back to the AI lets ancoreMind translate it again.
  • New translation adds a term before it appears – enter the Original, as the app shows it and the Translation, then Save.
  • Owners and Admins change translations and decide with Translate the Qlik apps of this workspace whether the Workspace translates at all. Members read them.

To correct the texts of one chart, select it with Select Qlik objects and choose Change translation… in the menu of its chip – the Translations tab opens with just the texts of that chart.

Translate the app itself instead

If an app should carry another language for everyone – also for users without ancoreMind – let ancoreMind translate the titles in the app itself: Translate all titles and subtitles on this sheet into English. See Change many objects at once.
