Objects and sheets
Save it once – restore it or reuse it anywhere. Keep a chart, a KPI or a whole sheet in the Library: as a backup to restore in the same app, or to copy into another app – also on another Qlik platform, for example from Qlik Sense Desktop into Qlik Cloud. Before inserting, ancoreMind checks what the object needs in the target app.
On this page you learn:
- how to save charts, tables and KPIs from a sheet in the Library,
- how to insert them into another app – also on another Qlik platform – and restore whole sheets,
- what ancoreMind checks before it inserts an object.
How it works
Select the objects on the sheet and save them to the Library. In the other app, drag them from the Library onto the sheet. ancoreMind checks what each object needs there – master items, variables, fields – and creates what is missing on your OK.
Details
Save objects from a sheet
Pick the objects
Select Select Qlik objects – the button in the message box, left of +. ancoreMind moves aside, and every object on the sheet gets a Select button. Select the charts, tables or KPIs you want to save; select them again to deselect. A bar on the sheet shows how many objects you selected. You can change to another sheet and select more there – your selection is kept.
Objects in the bar lists everything else in the app – Sheets, Measures, Dimensions, Master visualizations, Variables and Bookmarks – with Select all of this kind.
Save
Choose Save ▾ › Save to Library… in the bar – with several objects it shows the number, for example Save 5 to Library… – or Save to Library… in the menu of a single selection above the message box. Pick the place – the Workspace or this Conversation – and select Save here; the files land in its Qlik Objects folder.
Each object is saved in the Library as a Qlik object package – with its properties, its design and the definitions of the master items and variables it uses.
Everyone who can see the folder can now use the objects – your colleagues in a shared Workspace, too.
Insert an object into another app
Open the target app
Open the app and the sheet where the object should go, and make sure you may edit the sheet. Open ancoreMind in the compact chat and open the Library with Search the Library ⌕ – type a few words to find the object. Dragging works from the compact chat only – in the full view, ancoreMind covers the sheet.
Drag the object onto the sheet
Drag the Qlik object from the Library onto a free place on the sheet. With the keyboard: focus the object's drag handle, press Enter, choose a free cell with the arrow keys and press Enter again; Esc cancels. The object keeps its original size if there is room for it. Or just ask in the chat, for example Insert Margin % from the Library onto this sheet.
Review the dependencies
ancoreMind compares what the object needs with the target app and shows a dialog Insert "…" with the source app and one section each for Variables, Master measures and Master dimensions:
You see Meaning ✓ Name – already in this app The target app has the same item. It is used as it is. Create master measure "…" (checked) The item is missing. ancoreMind creates it in the target app. Clear the checkbox to skip it. ⚠ Name exists with a different definition An item with this name exists, but with another expression. Choose Use existing "…" or Create copy "… (copy)". ✗ Name cannot be created: missing fields … The target app does not have the fields the item needs. The item cannot be created. If the object itself needs a field the target app does not have, Insert stays unavailable and the dialog names the missing field.
Insert
Select Insert – or Create and insert if master items or variables are created. ancoreMind inserts the object and checks that Qlik shows it as intended.
Both objects come from another app. The chart had its formula inside and was inserted directly; for the KPI, ancoreMind created the master measure Margin % first.
Save and restore whole sheets
A whole sheet goes into the Library, too – with all its objects, their positions and sizes, and the master items and variables they use. Restore it as a new sheet in the same app or in another app, on any Qlik platform.
Save the sheet
Select Select Qlik objects, open Objects in the bar and tick the sheet under This sheet or Sheets. Then choose Save ▾ › Save to Library… and select Save here – the sheet is saved as a Qlik sheet in the Qlik Objects folder. Or just ask: Save this sheet to the Library.
Restore it
In the compact chat, open the Library with ⌕ and drag the sheet onto the sheet list of the app – it becomes a new sheet. Or drag it onto the open sheet: an empty sheet is filled with it; if the sheet already has objects, ancoreMind asks how to restore it – As a new sheet, or Below the objects on this sheet, where the sheet grows downward and nothing on it moves.
Without dragging: choose Restore as a new sheet in the menu ⋮ of the file, or ask: Restore "Q4 cockpit" as a new sheet.
Check what it needs
As with single objects, ancoreMind compares the master items and variables with the app. The dialog Restore sheet "…" offers Create master measure "…" for a missing item, and Use existing or Create copy "… (copy)" for a name that exists with another definition. Select Create and restore or Restore as a new sheet.
The new sheet opens – for example Q4 cockpit (2) – and the chat says how many objects were restored and which master items or variables were created.
What comes along: every object with its settings, position and size, layout containers with their content, the grid of the sheet, the master items and variables the objects use, and buttons that jump to the sheet itself – they point to the new sheet. What stays behind: data values, selections and the ancoreMind object.
Save and insert master items
Master measures, master dimensions and variables travel on their own, too – without a chart. Keep the agreed KPI definitions of one app in the Library and give the next app exactly the same ones.
- Save: in Select Qlik objects, open Objects, tick them under Measures, Dimensions or Variables and choose Save ▾ › Save to Library…. Several items become one file, for example Master items of Sales 2026.
- Insert: in the other app, drag the file from the Library onto a free place on the sheet, or choose Insert into this app in its menu. The items go into the app, not onto the sheet.
- Save the master items of this app to the Library.
- Insert the master items from the Library into this app.
In the target app, ancoreMind checks what is already there: items with the same definition are used as they are, missing ones are created on your OK – for example 2 master items and 1 variable made; 1 was here already.
Save and insert bookmarks
Bookmarks travel the same way: tick them under Bookmarks in Objects and save them. A bookmark keeps its selected values. In another app it comes back with them – ancoreMind names values that are not in that app.
To copy charts to another sheet of the same app, just ask: Copy the three KPIs to the sheet Overview. See Build and change apps.
Good to know
- Nothing is created in the target app without the dialog: master items and variables are only created when you confirm them.
- If the dialog reports missing fields, the data model of the target app differs from the source app. Load the fields in the target app first, or ask ancoreMind to adapt the object to the fields the target app has.
- Charts that ancoreMind shows in the chat can be dragged onto the sheet in the same way. See The chat window.
