The chat window

Everything you see and click in ancoreMind, in one place.

On this page you find:

  • the compact chat, the full view and the bar,
  • the message box, attachments and pointing at objects,
  • the actions on messages, reactions, reports, help and keyboard shortcuts.

ancoreMind opens in a floating window above your Qlik sheet – the Consultant. One window serves the whole app: it stays open when you change sheets and keeps your conversation until you close the app.

Compact chat and full view

Compact chatA small window next to your sheet. The menu ☰ opens Consultant, Library, Workspace and Settings; ⌕ searches the Library – drag saved Qlik objects from there onto the sheet. Drag the header to move the window, drag its left edge or the corner to resize it.
Full viewThe window fills the browser. On the left: Consultant, Library, Workspace and Settings, with Help at the foot.
Full view – managementLibrary, Workspace or Settings in the middle and the Consultant on the right, so you can keep talking while you organize.
Help where you need it

Many areas and dialogs of ancoreMind show a ?. It opens the matching section of this help in a new tab. Help – in the menu ☰, or at the foot of the full view – opens this help center at any time.

The buttons in the header:

In the full view the same entries stand on the left.

Collapse to barFolds the window into a bar – see below.
Open full view / Return to chat windowSwitches between the compact chat and the full view. A number on the button shows open Workspace invitations.
Close ancoreMindHides the window. The round Open ancoreMind button brings it back with everything as you left it, also the width of the compact chat. While the window is closed, the button pulses when ancoreMind is working and when a new answer or a message from a colleague arrives.

In the full view, drag the line between the management area and the chat to make the chat wider or narrower; double-click it to reset the width. In a narrow window the menu on the left shows icons only, and below a certain width the Consultant moves out of the way: Show chat opens it over the page, Hide chat closes it again.

Collapse to a bar

Want to see more of your sheet while ancoreMind works? Collapse to bar (the button left of Open full view) folds the compact chat into a small bar at the bottom edge. The bar keeps the header, the message box and the line with your Workspace and Conversation – you can keep writing from it.

  • A status line shows what ancoreMind is doing – for example Writing answer… with the time so far – and, when it is done, the first line of the answer with Show.
  • Show conversation – the same button – opens the chat again at its last height.
  • When you ask for a change in the open compact chat, ancoreMind folds it to the bar by itself while it works, so you see the sheet change, and opens it again with the answer.
  • A question that needs your confirmation, such as deleting, opens the chat by itself.
  • The bar stays a bar when you close and reopen ancoreMind or visit the full view.

Where you are: Workspace and Conversation

The bar at the bottom of the window shows the Workspace and the Conversation you are in, for example Personal › Sales review. Select either one, and a short list opens in place of the chat – search it and pick another Workspace or Conversation; ‹ Chat takes you back. Next to it, Open Members shows how many people take part. New Workspaces, new Conversations and members are managed in Workspace – see Workspaces.

The message box

Type your message and press Enter, or select Send message. The box grows up to three lines while you type.

  • Attach one file adds a file to your message – for example a PDF with your KPI definitions or an Excel file with targets. You can also drag a file onto the message box.
  • Emoji – the smiley between + and Send message – inserts an emoji where the cursor is. Ctrl+Z takes it out again. ancoreMind understands emojis in your questions.
  • Paste images with Ctrl+V – for example a screenshot of a dashboard you want to rebuild. PNG and JPEG are supported, up to eight attachments per message.
  • Add to Knowledge base – shown when you attach a document, off by default – puts the file into the Knowledge base of the Workspace: ancoreMind answers from it and names it as the source. Without the tick, ancoreMind does not read the document; if you ask about it, it points you to the menu of the attachment. The ⋮ menu of the attachment offers Show in Library, Download and Add to or Remove from Knowledge base. Pasted images are used for the message itself – for example to copy a look from a screenshot. See Knowledge.

In a conversation with two or more people, the button at the left of the message box switches between ancoreMind and Members. With Message members… your message goes to the people in the conversation, and ancoreMind does not answer.

Dictate

Prefer to speak? Select Dictate – the microphone in the message box – and say what you need. Select it again (Stop dictation) when you are done; ancoreMind turns your speech into text and puts it at the cursor. It never sends by itself – read it, change it if you like, and send. Dictation stops after about three seconds of silence or after 60 seconds; Esc cancels.

  • The first time, your browser asks whether ancoreMind may use the microphone – allow it.
  • Dictation understands German when your browser language is German, and English otherwise.

Point at objects on the sheet

Instead of describing a chart, show it. Select Select Qlik objects – the button in the message box, left of + – then select one or more objects on the sheet. While you pick, ancoreMind moves out of the way. Objects in the bar lists everything else you can pick – sheets, master measures and dimensions, master visualizations, variables and bookmarks. Select Consultant in the bar to go back – the objects you picked appear above the message box, and ancoreMind knows exactly which ones you mean:

Use the same colors as in this chart for the two others.

If an object you picked is deleted – by ancoreMind or directly in Qlik – it disappears from above the message box and is no longer sent with your next message.

While ancoreMind answers

You see the current step, for example Reading Qlik data… or Writing answer….

  • Stop this answer stops ancoreMind. What it already changed in Qlik stays changed. Your message is kept.
  • If an answer breaks off, select Continue to let ancoreMind pick up where it stopped, or Ask again to start the answer anew.
  • Show timing details below an answer shows how long the request, the thinking, the Qlik work and the response took.

What an answer tells you

When ancoreMind changed something in Qlik, the end of its answer says what happened:

  • Objects ancoreMind made or changed are linked – select one to open its sheet or show it there. A grey link points to another Qlik app.
  • ⚙ … settings – folded – lists every setting it made. Open it if you want to check the details.
  • ✗ Not done – never folded – names what did not work and why, for example because Qlik did not take a setting.
  • Rules ancoreMind followed are listed, too – see Rulebook.

Charts in the chat

When ancoreMind answers with a chart, you see a real, interactive Qlik chart in the chat. To keep it, drag it onto the sheet – or press Enter on the chart, choose a free cell with the arrow keys and press Enter again. Esc cancels.

Messages

Under every message you find its actions: Copy, React, Knowledge, Edit on your own messages, and Report on answers of ancoreMind. In a narrow chat they show as icons; point at one to see what it does.

ActionWhat it does
CopyCopies the message with its formatting – bold text, lists and tables arrive formatted in Word or Outlook. A plain-text field gets the text with its Markdown marks, such as **. The button briefly shows Copied.
ReactAdds an emoji reaction to the message. See React to a message.
Knowledge › Add to workspace / Add to this conversationKeeps the message as Knowledge. See Knowledge.
Knowledge › Save as rule…Turns the message into a rule in the Rulebook.
EditChanges the text of one of your own messages. The message shows Edited; ancoreMind does not answer it again.
ReportTells ancoreSoft that an answer of ancoreMind was wrong. See Report a problem with an answer.
Show in LibraryOpens the folder of a file in the Library.

Load older messages at the top of a long conversation shows earlier messages.

React to a message

Every message – from ancoreMind, from you or from a colleague – has React next to Copy. It opens a bar with 👍 ❤️ 😂 😮 😢; + opens all emojis, with a search, categories and the ones you used recently.

  • Under the message, each reaction shows its emoji and how many people chose it. Point at it to see who reacted.
  • Select your own reaction again to take it back.
  • In a shared conversation, the others see your reaction within a few seconds.

Report a problem with an answer

If an answer or a change in Qlik was wrong, tell us right where it happened. Every answer of ancoreMind has Report at the far right of its actions – in a narrow chat only the flag icon, with the tooltip Report a problem with this AI answer. Your own messages and those of colleagues do not have it.

  1. Select Report. The dialog Report a problem opens.
  2. If you like, describe in a few words what went wrong (up to 500 characters). You do not have to describe anything technical.
  3. Select Send. ancoreMind confirms Thank you. Your report was sent., and the button shows Reported.

The report includes this answer, the steps ancoreMind took and the version numbers – no data from your app. Details in the dialog shows exactly what is attached: the ID of the answer, the versions and the app.

Report an issue

Something is wrong that has nothing to do with one answer – the window looks broken, the Library does not load, signing in fails, ancoreMind is slow? Tell us with Help › Report an issue… in the menu ☰, or at the foot of the full view.

  1. Choose the Area: Interface, Library, Sign-in and account, Speed or Other.
  2. If you like, describe under What happened? what you did and what you saw (up to 500 characters).
  3. If a picture says more, add up to three: paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V or select Add image.
  4. Select Send. ancoreMind confirms Thank you. Your report was sent.

The report includes the area, your text and pictures, the version numbers and where you were in ancoreMind – no data from your app. Pictures are sent as they are, so leave out anything confidential.

If something is wrong with a single answer, use Report under that answer instead – then the steps ancoreMind took are attached for us.
