Connect ancoreMate to Qlik Cloud

ancoreMate works with two kinds of connections:

  • A connection in your automation tool – a connection in Power Automate or a credential in n8n. It signs in with your ancoreCloud account.
  • A Qlik Cloud connection – a Qlik Cloud tenant together with a Qlik Cloud user. Your ancoreCloud account can hold several Qlik Cloud connections, for example for a development and a production tenant.

Each connection in Power Automate or n8n works with exactly one Qlik Cloud connection: the one you choose when you sign in. You choose it in the sign-in window, so you never create an OAuth client, a client ID or an API key – neither in your automation tool nor in Qlik Cloud.

Before you begin

  • An ancoreCloud account.
  • The address of your Qlik Cloud tenant, for example company.eu.qlikcloud.com.
  • A Qlik Cloud user with access to the content you want to automate. See Requirements.

Steps

The sign-in window opens when you create a connection in Power Automate (see Power Automate) or a credential in n8n (see n8n).

  1. Sign in with your ancoreCloud account.
  2. Check the account line Signed in to ancoreCloud as …. If it shows the wrong account, select Use another ancoreCloud account.
  3. Choose the Qlik Cloud connection:
    • First sign-in: enter your Qlik Cloud tenant and select Sign in at Qlik Cloud. Sign in with your Qlik Cloud user and approve the access for ancoreMate.
    • Existing connection: the window lists the Qlik Cloud connections of your account with tenant and user. Select the one this connection should work with.
    • Another tenant or user: enter the tenant under Or add another Qlik Cloud tenant or Qlik user and select Sign in at Qlik Cloud. Qlik Cloud always asks you to sign in, so you can choose another Qlik Cloud user.
  4. The window closes. Your other Qlik Cloud connections stay as they are.

Tips for the sign-in window

  • Wait until the end. Wait until the sign-in window has closed and Power Automate or n8n shows the connection. Until then, do nothing else in the same browser – in particular, do not sign in to Qlik Cloud with another user in another tab.
  • A second Qlik Cloud user in the same tenant: use a private browser window. Qlik Cloud keeps one session per browser, so signing in a second user of the same tenant replaces your Qlik Cloud session in that browser: open Qlik Cloud tabs then show "You need access" or work as the other user. If this happened, sign in to Qlik Cloud again with your own user.
  • Not connected afterwards: if actions report QlikNotConnected, open the sign-in window once more – in Power Automate with Switch account, in n8n with Reconnect.

Verify the result

Run the action Get Qlik connection, which every ancoreMate connector contains. It returns the tenant and the Qlik Cloud user that the connection works with.

Work with several tenants or Qlik Cloud users

Create one connection in Power Automate, or one credential in n8n, per Qlik Cloud connection. A flow can then use both – for example read from a development tenant and write to a production tenant.

  • Your ancoreCloud account can hold up to 20 Qlik Cloud connections. When it has 20, the sign-in window asks you to continue with one of them or to remove one that is no longer needed.
  • Signing in again with the same tenant and Qlik Cloud user renews only that Qlik Cloud connection; it does not create a second one.
  • Triggers keep the Qlik Cloud connection they were turned on with.
Technical user

For flows that run unattended for a team, consider an ancoreCloud account and a Qlik Cloud user meant for that purpose, with exactly the rights the flows need. Then the flows do not depend on the account of one employee.

What the connection can do

ancoreMate always acts as the Qlik Cloud user of the Qlik Cloud connection:

  • It sees only the apps, spaces, data and automations this user may see. Section access applies to all data actions.
  • It can change only what this user may change – for example space members only if the user may manage the space.
  • This also applies to tenant administrators: with an API key an administrator sees more, for example the personal spaces of other users; through ancoreMate the administrator sees what the user sees in Qlik Cloud. Some administration interfaces of Qlik Cloud are not open to applications at all (see Limits).

Open the sign-in window of an existing connection

To repair a connection, switch it to another tenant or remove a Qlik Cloud connection, open the sign-in window of an existing connection:

  • Power Automate: Connections → the … menu of your ancoreMate connection → Switch account.
  • n8n: Credentials → your ancoreMate credential → Reconnect.

The window lists the Qlik Cloud connections of your ancoreCloud account, as described in Steps. Alternatively, create a new ancoreMate connection or credential – its sign-in window shows the same list.

See also Tips for the sign-in window.

Repair a connection

If Qlik Cloud no longer accepts the sign-in – for example because the Qlik Cloud user was removed or the approval was revoked – actions fail with QlikNotConnected, and the message tells you to sign in again.

Open the sign-in window of the connection and choose the Qlik Cloud connection again, or add it again.

In Power Automate the connection still shows as connected in this case, because only the Qlik Cloud connection is missing, so use Switch account. Fix connection appears only when Power Automate itself reports the connection as broken; then select it and sign in again.

Switch to another tenant or user

Open the sign-in window of the connection and choose another Qlik Cloud connection, or add one under Or add another Qlik Cloud tenant or Qlik user. Only this connection changes; your other connections keep their Qlik Cloud connection.

Actions use the new Qlik Cloud connection right away. A trigger that is already turned on keeps its Qlik Cloud connection: turn the flow or workflow off and on again so that its trigger also uses the new one.

Remove a Qlik Cloud connection

  1. Open the sign-in window of a connection.
  2. Open Remove a connection and select the Qlik Cloud connection.
  3. Confirm with Remove the connection.

Connections in Power Automate or n8n that use the removed Qlik Cloud connection stop working until they are signed in again, and their triggers end at once. Triggers of your other Qlik Cloud connections keep running. Your content in Qlik Cloud is not changed.

After you have signed in those connections again, turn their flows and workflows off and on, so that their triggers start again.
